Our dahlias this summer have been wonderful. They weren’t favourites until I was given a Sarah Raven gardening catalogue once with the most stunning photography of the flowers and plants and have been kind of hooked since.
Now we have had our first frost the blooms will start to look very sad and the foliage will blacken and die down until next year. Head Gardener (and I) don't lift them. We heavily mulch them and so far we have been successful with this method. The only issue is remembering exactly where the plants are! This year we will mark them with one of the Rusters plant markers. See the before and after frost pictures.
