Sourdough: starter or non starter!

With this unexpected more time at home I have been busy “doing“! But I have been aware that lots of people have been trying their hand at making a sourdough starter to make sourdough bread (of course).

Flour and yeast have been a bit scarce to buy but as the starter can take at least a week to make perhaps this is the best time to try it.

So I have...you need patience and I’ve not even got to the bread making process, which can take over 24hrs to make.

Will it be worth it? Who knows. I’ll keep you posted

No I haven’t but if I can get some rye I will. I find white flour raises easier with starter, my wholemeal was a bit dense!!

Wow...worth the perseverance then? There seem so many different ways and variations, let’s hope mine works. First loaf happening today!

Gardening and sourdough bread making have a lot in common - heaps of patience needed but very rewarding!
